What is SafetyKit?

SafetyKit is a small set of free calculators built around the everyday maths of police and public-safety work in the UK and US: stopping distances for road-safety education, the speed–distance–time triangle, shift-hour totals, overtime pay, fitness-test pacing, precise gaps between two entries in a log, and reaction distances.

What SafetyKit is not

This matters, so we state it plainly:

General calculators only. Every tool here does ordinary arithmetic on numbers you type in.
No records. SafetyKit holds no data about any person, vehicle, address, or case — there is nothing here to search.
No database checks and no lookups. This site is not connected to any official system and cannot check, verify, or trace anything.
Nothing official. SafetyKit is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or a substitute for any police force, agency, or government department. Figures are for education and planning; for official work, use your organisation's own systems, policies, and current published standards.

Where the figures come from

Road-safety tools use the widely published UK Highway Code typical stopping distances (dry road, alert driver) and say so on the page, including that real distances grow in the wet and vary by vehicle. Pay tools apply the multipliers you enter, because overtime rules differ by contract and country. Fitness tools do pacing maths only; test standards are set by each force or agency.

Our promise

Free, always. Every tool is free to use.
Private by design. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing you enter is stored, sent, or tracked.
Honest. Estimates are labelled as estimates, and reference figures are labelled with their source.

What's next

More staff-room calculators are planned. If there is a tool your team would use, let us know.
